Artist: Olga Garner-Morris
Olga was born in New South Wales in 1943. She studied at the National Art School for modern art, sculpture and photography, and then embarked on a teaching career. Upon becoming a fulltime professional artist in 1976 and after a major exhibition in Wollongong, she set off for Europe with her then husband and two children.
“The first thing we did when we arrived in Spain was purchase a 65 foot yacht,” Olga told us. “For the next two years I shared a studio in Gibraltar with several other artists and spent the rest of my time cruising the Mediterranean with my family.”
After a successful exhibition at the Fine Art Guild Gallery in London in 1978, Olga sold the yacht and stayed in London for the next six years, during which time she painted and taught art. In 1984 the family returned to Australia.
Olga currently calls the Sunshine Coast home, and her paintings are in the collection of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, the Australian War Memorial and Government House amongst many others.
Winning countless awards, Olga is a greatly respected artist among her peers and within the wider artistic community. A traditional Australian realist painter, her work draws on the fabulous landscapes of the Sunshine Coast.
